About us
Our Mission
Since 1983, the mission of Community Homes, Inc. has been to provide a safe, supportive and structured living environment for people with developmental disabilities to exercise their right to make choices, grow, and contribute to their community.
This is accomplished by creating an environment that enhances the self-direction of individuals receiving services; maintaining open communication between staff, providers, and consumers; ensuring internal quality assurance through ongoing assessment; and increasing community awareness, understanding, and acceptance of individuals with developmental disabilities.
Everyday support for the disabled
Depending on each individual's needs, maximizing life skills while promoting community inclusion may require different levels of support. Customized person-centered support makes it possible for adults with disabilities to live independently. Community Homes staff can coordinate with schools, employers and other program providers to encourage a positive experience providing maximum benefit to the individual. The intensity of services provided may range from drop-in support of a few hours to hands-on supervision for several hours each week, and may include:
- Community Connections (links to community resources)
- Independent Living (personal/health care, cooking, shopping)
- Finances (budgeting, banking)
- Social/Recreational Activities (leisure, entertainment, religious and cultural activities)
- Medical (appointments, benefits coordination)
Integration instead of exclusion
Activities for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities shouldn’t be about just passing the time. They should be meaningful and enriching.
Our activities focus on getting out in the community doing things that are healthy, social, sustainable, and fun.
Self-determination is one of our core values, which means Consumers are encouraged to explore and decide each day where they go and what they do. Participants work together to choose activities with support from staff. When Consumers are uncertain about what to do or what opportunities are available our staff offer guidance and options.
Our Community Inclusion program is all about personal discovery and growth, and community integration and engagement.

Donations give us the flexibility we need to create new services, to step in when other funding falls short, or to provide for unexpected client needs.
